Akkar Trail Association ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit akkartrail.com, how we use it, and the controls you have over it. We collect the minimum needed to keep the site useful — no profiling, no advertising, no data sale.

Automatically collected: server logs (IP address, browser type, requested URL, timestamp) — used for basic security and uptime monitoring. Logs are deleted after 30 days.

Provided by you: nothing required for browsing. If you donate, the donation platform (GoFundMe, FundaHope, Whish) handles your personal and payment details directly under their privacy policies — we do not receive your card number, email, or address.

This site uses essential cookies for session and CSRF protection on form submissions. Some pages use localStorage to remember your preferences (e.g. expanded admin nav sections). We do not run third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies.

The site embeds content from third parties whose own privacy practices apply when you interact with them:

• Wikiloc — when you view an embedded trail map, Wikiloc loads its own scripts and may set cookies in your browser.
• YouTube / Vimeo — when a video is played, the video host may track playback. We use the privacy-enhanced YouTube embed where available.
• iNaturalist — observation photos and metadata link out to iNaturalist; visiting their pages is governed by their privacy policy.
• Donation platforms — GoFundMe, FundaHope, and Whish Money handle all personal and payment information themselves.
• Social platforms — Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube buttons open in a new tab; we do not preload their scripts.

Server logs are kept for up to 30 days for security purposes, then deleted. Admin-side records (user accounts, content edits) are retained for the lifetime of the account or until you ask us to remove them.

You have the right to ask what information we hold about you (if any), to request correction, and to request deletion. Most readers of this site won't have any personal data with us at all because browsing is anonymous. If you've been in touch with us by email or social DM, write to us and we'll handle your request within a reasonable timeframe.

The site is intended for a general audience. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
